New Story: See You on the Other Side

I know it’s been a little while. Like a lot of fans, I’ve been pretty demoralized by the Tony twist, and for a while it sapped my motivation to keep writing fanfic. I even went on to writing an original screenplay, which is in its very early stages but I will post more about later. But in the meantime, the last episode inspired me to write a new 24 fanfic, based on the confrontation scene between Jack and Tony in 7×22. The first part shows Jack’s inner thoughts during that pivotal scene, and then the second part shows Tony’s.

This fiction also inspired me to write an original song, and the lyrics are posted as part of Tony’s POV. I am working on trying to record the song so people can hear it, but I suck at singing so I am too self-conscious to put it up right now. But if anyone is interested in singing my song please let me know and I can send you what I envisioned for the tune.

“The Real Almeida Project” Clip #2

Here’s another clip as part of my new “Real Almeida Project”, designed to highlight some of the sweetest Tony moments and the moments that make you most proud of him in seasons 1-5. This clip is from season 4, when Tony takes time out of his busy evening to update Audrey on what’s going on with Jack, who is currently being held by Marwan as CTU decides whether or not to go through with the exchange. I know not everyone likes Audrey, but either way, I like this clip because Tony is such a sweetheart, and he says “Jack is just about the only friend I have left, so I’m going to do everything I can to keep him safe”. After last night’s ending scene I thought it would be comforting to watch this scene…this is the real Tony Almeida, not the imposter we saw last night!

New Feature: The “Real Almeida Project”

In response to the latest ridiculous, over-the-top, character-destroying twist, I’m starting a new feature on this blog: the “Remembering the Real Tony Almeida Project”. Basically, the idea is to pick out and feature clips that highlight what a great person he was in seasons 1 to 5. I’ll include some of the Tony/Michelle scenes we watched over and over, but also some other clips that may not have gotten as much attention but show what a caring, dedicated, honest person the Tony Almeida we knew was.

This first clip is from the end of season 2, when Kim comes back to CTU and Tony goes out of his way to ask how she’s doing and assures her that it’s going to be okay.

I’ll be posting more clips over the next few days as we Tony fans struggle to cope with the latest developments.

New 24 Video Montage: “How to Save a Life”

Jack Bauer can save the world from terrorists, but he couldn’t save his best friend from going down the wrong path. In my new video montage, set to “How to Save a Life” by The Fray, Jack thinks back when he first sees Tony again after believing he was dead for 5 years and wonders if there’s anything he could have done to help. This is the first time I’ve done something like this for 24, so I hope you like it, and I’d love to get some feedback.

New Story: Give Me One Reason

New 24 Fanfic: “Give Me One Reason”

When Tony promised Jack that he would turn himself in after the crisis was over, he had every intention of keeping his word. But now that he’s actually faced with the prospect of going back to prison, will he have the courage to make good on his promise, or will he look for a way out? That’s the premise of my new story, which place at the end of Day 7, after Jack & co. have saved the world. The final threat and how they handle it and what happens afterwards are pure speculation and not based on any spoilers, though I have a way of predicting things in my fanfics (case in point: my DC-based fanfic that I wrote 4 years ago that had Tony accused of involvement in a plot to hijack the air traffic controls). In spite of my penchant for predicting the events of the show, I don’t know anything about the season finale, and this should be safe for anyone who has seen 7×13 to read.

I know I’ve had a lot of new stories lately, and some of you are probably tired of me starting new stories instead of updating “Pretty Bad Things”. An update for that is coming soon, but I had this idea and I couldn’t resist. This is the first of probably two parts, and it’s pretty short, but hopefully the second part will be up either today or tomorrow.

Yet Another New Fanfic: “What the Hell Happened to You?”

Yet another one-shot inspired by the final exchange between Jack and Tony in 7×10 on the steps near the Capitol. This one is different from “I Need Your Help”, even though they were inspired by the same scene. This story, tentatively titled “What the Hell Happened to You?” addresses Jack’s thoughts during his little moment of contemplation, before Tony came along and ruined his rare moment of peace. It’s a little bit of a Jack/Audrey story, but mostly just an attempt to address Jack’s state of mind in Day 7: his emotions or lack their of, the combination of resentment and sympathy he has shown towards Tony, and whether he is still able to feel anything anymore. This story also includes a flashback that shows how Jack convinced President Palmer to pardon Tony and how that plays into Jack’s current emotions.

New Story: “I Need Your Help”

I’m still working on “Pretty Bad Things”, but Monday’s episode inspired me to do a semi-related story called “I Need Your Help”. As you might have guessed from the title, this story is an extended version of the penultimate scene in 7×10 by the Washington Monument (hopefully that doesn’t give too much away for those who have not seen the episode). Jack is tired of sacrificing for a government that shuns him, but an old friend and his sense of duty may compel him into action yet again.

I realized I never posted an update about chapter 4 when I posted it, so for those of you who missed it, you get two new chapters. Plus, I completely rewrote chapter 1, so that the whole story now takes place at the end of Day 7, after Jack, Tony and crew have saved the world. Now Tony has to face the consequences of what he did and the difficulty of telling Jack what those “pretty bad things” were.
