INT. WAREHOUSE - LOCATION UNKNOWN - 05:09:24
Two 40-something Middle Eastern men, AHMED and MUSTAFA, are tinkering with the engine of a car and speaking in Arabic.
MUSTAFA
I don’t like changing plans at the last minute.
AHMED
We don’t have a choice. Someone tipped the government off to the original plan. This is our best opportunity to achieve our goals.
MUSTAFA
What about the American? Are you sure we can trust him? I’ve had a funny feeling for a while.
AHMED
So have I. Which is precisely why we must do this. We must make him think he knows what’s going on.
MUSTAFA
Alright.
He checks his watch.
AHMED
It’s almost time.
MUSTAFA
May Allah be with you.
MUSTAFA
You too, my brother.
They hug for a minute, then Mustafa turns to leave.
CUT TO:
INT. BEDROOM
Audrey is finishing getting dressed when Jack walks into the room, still wearing just a towel around his waist. She smiles at him as he goes into his closet and starts picking out clothes.
JACK
I just woke Tony up…I put out his clothes and I’ll go check on him in a couple minutes.
AUDREY
You sure you want to get him up this early?
JACK
Are you kidding? Tony’s excited about seeing you off…I told him I’d see if we could get a sneak peak inside the plane before you take off.
AUDREY
(smiling)
I think I can arrange that.
JACK
Plus, I promised him we’d go out for pancakes before I take him to school.
Audrey nods, then looks up from adjusting her stockings.
AUDREY
I should probably give you a heads up. Tony’s been going around telling people his father’s superman.
Jack chuckles a little, somewhat amused and somewhat bewildered.
JACK
How did that come about?
AUDREY
He overheard me arguing with my brother about politics the other day, and Richard made some reference to some terrorist you killed years ago and started railing about extrajudicial killings. The next thing you know Tony’s in tears asking if his father is a murderer.
JACK
So what did you tell him?
AUDREY
That his father’s a hero who saved millions of lives, including mine.
JACK
So now he thinks I’m Superman, huh?
AUDREY
I know it’s a little more complicated than the comic book version I gave Tony, but I can’t say I disagree with his assessment.
Jack blushes and looks a little uncomfortable, so she walks over and places her hand on his arm and smiles at him.
JACK
So does that make you Lois Lane?
AUDREY
I guess. Except I love both sides of you…the gentle side and the Superman side.
JACK
(grinning)
Oh yeah?
AUDREY
Yeah.
He turns around and kisses her softly yet passionately. They smile at each other for a moment. They kiss again and Jack starts running his hands up and down her sides. She takes a step back, afraid that if she doesn’t they’ll get distracted.
JACK
I better go check on Tony.
AUDREY
(reluctantly)
Yeah.
CUT TO:
INT. DIA
Chloe is typing when her phone rings.
CHLOE
DOD, this is Chloe O’Brien.
RECEPTIONIST (O.S.)
Ms. O’Brien, I have Sarah Gavin from the FBI on the phone.
Chloe looks surprised.
CHLOE
Alright, patch her through.
SARAH (O.S.)
Chloe, this is Sarah Gavin. I work at the FBI now, in the District of Columbia investigations unit.
CHLOE
Um, that’s nice but I really don’t have time to “catch up on old times” right now.
SARAH
Neither do I. I’m calling because there’s something I thought you should know about.
CHLOE
Fine, what is it?
SARAH
This morning a little girl about 8 years old was abducted from her grandmother’s home…
CHLOE
Um, that’s tragic, but uh, why are you telling me this?
SARAH
Because it’s someone I know, someone I used to babysit. And it’s someone you know too.
CHLOE
Who?
SARAH
Angela Edmunds.
Close on Chloe, a troubled look on her face.
